Tom Bacolini

Memorials

Do not stand at my grave and weep

I am not there

I do not sleep

I am a thousand winds that blow

I am the diamond glint of snow

I am the sunlight on ripened grain

When you awaken in the morning’s hush

I am the swift birds in circled flight

I am the soft stars that shine at night

Do not stand at my grave and cry

I am not there

I did not die.

Brian Arnold Cochrane

Nov 29, 1950 - Apr 22, 2016

COCHRANE, Brian Arnold On April 22, 2016, surrounded by his family, Brian Arnold Cochrane, beloved husband of Linda, passed away from leukemia at the age of 65. Born in Hamilton to Verna Cochrane and the late Arnold Cochrane, he paved the way for his sisters, Sandy (Tom Bacolini), Wendy (Peter DeGroot) and brothers, Alan and Gary (Chris). Brian married Mary Anne Foley, his high school sweetheart, who passed away in 1997 after twenty-six years of marriage. He was fortunate to have found a second love in Linda with whom he built many happy memories over the past thirteen years. Loving father to Theresa (John Beder), Rebecca (Brennan Crellin), and Jennifer (Charlie Boyes), and special stepdad to Andrew Neel (Allisha Vallee), he was a source of support to all of his children. Brian taught his daughters much about life, love and Canadiana through prose and poetry; for Andrew and Allisha, he was a strong role model and a trusted friend. Always the fun loving "Grampy" to Ryan, Kale, Eden, Sierra, Luke, Max, Owen and Violet, and affectionately known to his extended family as "Unkie Bri", Brian never failed to make everyone feel special through his genuine interest in their uniqueness. Forever curious, always adventurous, he was a lover of life who savoured every moment (and a glass of Scotch) with joy, his infectious smile and a twinkle in his eye. Brian started his career in Westinghouse in Hamilton, moved to Digital in Waterloo, TD Canada Trust in Toronto and First Canadian Financial in Cambridge, before running his own company, Cochrane Change Management, Inc. He was someone who knew the value of leaving work at the end of the day to concentrate on his family and passions, most notably golf, travel, food and wine, books, music and theatre. He and Linda were gracious hosts to friends and neighbours in their community and maintained old friendships while finding new friends wherever they went. His legacy will live on through his wife, children, grandchildren, mother, siblings, nieces, nephews, in-laws, friends and coworkers. A celebration of his life will be held at Whistle Bear Golf Club, 1316 Dickie Settlement Road, Cambridge, Ontario on Sunday, May 1st from 1-4 p.m. Cremation has taken place. Heartfelt thanks to the amazing staff on the oncology floor at Grand River Hospital. At Brian's request, donations to Grand River Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated at: www.grhf.org "Every man dies, but not every man truly lives."

Luigino (Louis) BATTAGLIO

BATTAGLIO, Luigino (Louis) Lou was the second youngest of five brothers and two sisters. He was born and raised in Hamilton. In the service during the second world war, he was briefly stationed in British Columbia, a place he always remembered as being beautiful. He married Ann (nee Curto) and was happily married for 50 years. Together they loved to RV throughout Canada and the USA. After Ann's death in 1999, Lou moved to Kelowna, British Columbia to live with his only son Nick and family, but he always thought Hamilton to be his home. Lou spent over 40 years working at Duro Aluminum/GSW retiring at the age of 65. In addition to RVing with Ann, making his own wine, and squeezing in a little golf, he enjoyed watching sports - he was a great armchair coach. He will be sadly missed by his son Nick, daughter-in-law Trudy, grandson Jason, granddaughter Jillian and her partner Karlin, his last surviving sibling Antoinette Guy and many nephews and nieces. The funeral will be held at FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL, 43 Barton Street East, on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery with a lunch to follow.
